Audience Numbers for 'Poldark'
With no Victoria on ITV to compete with and a cracking episode of Poldark last night it's good to see the overnight viewing figures edge towards the 5 million mark this week, with an audience of 4.96m which is a 22.4% share of viewers, according to OvernightsTV. The small increase on the previous week (4.9m) means episode 7 was the third most popular of this series so far.
The seven day consolidated figures from Barb (which do not include BBC iplayer) give an audience of 6.16 m which is good news after the previous episode's dip below the 6m mark. While the number of viewers for series two has not matched those for series one, Poldark is BBC One's best performing drama in September and October. This week, for example, the shows with higher audiences were The Great British Bake Off, Strictly Come Dancing, The Apprentice, Eastenders and Countryfile.
NB: We usually take a look at the viewing figures for Australia here too, but they don't seem to be out yet, so we'll catch up with those next week.

'Poldark' Popular on iPlayer in April

Poldark is at No.2 and 3 in the top 20 requested programmes on iplayer for April 2015!
The BBC figures show that episode 5 and 6 got 1,449,000 and 1,068,000 requests respectively. The only show to get more was Peter Kay's Car Share with 1,495,000. Poldark's episode 7 was also in the top 20 at number 13 with 940,000 requests.
The figures for episode 5 of Poldark on iplayer beat those for episode 1 (1,192,000) although the BBC did not capture all the data in March. This may be accounted for by episode 5 being shown on Easter Sunday, as the consolidated viewing figures of 6.95m for the episode, showed a drop in viewing compared to the episodes in the weeks before and after. As one would expect, people who missed the drama on the Sunday, caught up on iplayer.
Here is the BBC iplayer Top 20. Please also see the following notes:

'Poldark' Episode 7 Preview
Ross is
struggling to keep the Carnmore smelting company afloat - and George Warleggan
is determined to crush it. George’s agents are outbidding Carnmore in order to
starve it of copper and George is trying to find ways to get to its
shareholders, who all remain secret except Ross.
After a
rockfall at Wheal Leisure Mark returns home early and finds that Keren is not
there. He tracks her to Dwight's house and discovers that they have been
sleeping together.
When Verity
runs away with Captain Blamey, Francis immediately blames Ross for helping to
arrange the scandalous elopement. Ross is furious and denies any involvement,
but Francis will not listen and the cousins break irreconcilably. George sees
an opportunity and exploits Francis’ anger until he reveals the names of the
Carnmore shareholders.
Demelza heads
to Trenwith to confess to Francis and beg him to forgive Ross, but Francis
flies into a rage and throws her out.
